Electrical Engineer
SubSeaSail, Inc (SSS) is looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our growing maritime robotics company. SSS is an IP rich company developing disruptively affordable, 100% energy harvesting, edge processing, dual usage, Autonomous Subsea & Surface Vehicles – lightweight (75 lb), semi-submersible HORUS™ observation vessel and fast trimaran HERMES™ for cargo/energy. The vehicles will be able to function above and below water down to 100 meters including in contested environments. SSS has recently been awarded funding to move its HORUS™ vehicle from hand-built prototypes to contract manufacturing.
Role Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate strong technical capabilities
- Critical analysis and technical documentation is imperative
- Develop, maintain, and support technical infrastructure, hardware, and system components
- Hands on production, development, and manufacturing experience, including design and layout of PCBs
- Understand documentation processes, change management, configuration management, and drawings
- Strong technical skills and experience, with an ability to communicate and teach
- Solve complex engineering problems using systems engineering skills
- Engage in quality control procedures to ensure that systems are efficient and operational
- Technical proficiency of electrical systems, including: solar, batteries, RF, PCB design and fabrication, high speed design, low voltage high current design, microcontroller design and programming, analog and digital signal processing
- Developing a cost-efficient system for projects by performing a cost-benefit analysis
- Work as part of a team, but importantly also autonomously and without supervision
· Supervisory experience in a collaborative environment is a big plus
· Ability to teach/coach other electrical engineers
· Create and analyze metrics for debugging, monitoring, improvement and managing
- Collaborate across multiple teams to plan, build, test and demonstrate the technology
- Interact with multiple people and senior personnel on key technical matters
Role Requirements:
- US Citizenship required
- Either already have (highly preferred) or have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering (or related field of study) with MINIMUM 7+ years of relevant experience
- Excellent communication, personal, and governance skills
- Conflict resolution, analytical, and decision-making skills
- Excellent cross-department communication skills
- Ability to think independently about creative solutions to design problems
- Team player, with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
Role Preferences:
- Significant experience in project management
- Experienced sailor is a big PLUS
- Must be able to swim
- Experience with the marine environment and systems, including ROVs, UUVs, USVs and/or sail boats
- Ability to work in a constantly changing, entrepreneurial environment and have a proven ability to manage concurrent activities effectively
- Be excited about changing/improving the way that humans interface with the ocean

- Travel up to 20% of the time.
