Our Client is a leading Deepwater exploration and production company, driving the global demand for energy through our offshore assets and cutting-edge gas development projects. The focus spans Super Basin Exploration and sustainable offshore basin exploration programs.
The Projects Director, reporting to the VP of Projects, plays a critical role in guiding and supporting project teams throughout the planning and execution phases. This position is essential for driving standardization across business units and ensuring effective coordination between project teams. The Projects Director will be involved in developing and implementing corporate guidance and may lead or support specific initiatives within the Projects function. The role focuses on project life cycle planning, project assurance, and other related activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Extensive experience delivering projects in smaller companies with limited systems
- Proven track record in developing and implementing practical guidance for standardizing project execution
- Strong knowledge of project controls, including cost, schedule, risk, and document management
- Expertise in project assurance systems
- Experience with diverse technical functions such as subsurface, wells, subsea, and host facilities
- Develop and standardize materials to guide project teams on assurance planning and execution, including processes, guidelines, and reference materials
- Coordinate with project teams and internal functions to create project-specific assurance plans
- Assist project teams with project assurance activities and manage the sourcing of independent resources when necessary
- Create standardized reporting to communicate assurance plans, progress, and outcomes to senior leadership
- Continuously improve assurance processes, guidelines, and reference libraries
- Develop guidelines to support project planning and execution, driving standardization in areas such as project controls, document control, and reporting
- Build and maintain reference libraries to aid in strategy development, project planning, and documentation
- Lead or support implementation of specific initiatives within the Projects function as required
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in project management, including leadership in project execution, project assurance, and project services functions (oil and gas industry experience preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Project, and Primavera
- Experience managing small teams in a matrix organization
